The MedTech Color Pitch365 program is developing to provide year-round access to resources designed to support minority-founded, underfunded startups from concept to the consumer market, and create a dependable, empathetic community of Medtech leaders dedicated to their start-up's ongoing success. The Pitch365 Program expands the Pitch Competition resource access to the Top 25 Pitch Competition applicants and finalist cohorts.
MedTech Color's Annual Pitch Competition is a foundational start for medical technology early-stage companies. In the 3 years since the competition began, MedTech Color has received over 250 applications, invested in 30 companies, and awarded over $865,000 in cash and in-kind services to diverse founders. The top prize winners for 2021-2023 are African-American women-led startups targeting mental health. We are proud to have invested across clinical areas. Our winners have been featured in Forbes and BBC, and won entry into major accelerators including YC Combinator and MedTech Innovator.
Facts
African-American and Hispanic entrepreneurs receive less than 4% of venture capital funding. MedTech Color is working to change that through the continuation of our annual Pitch Competition program.
Why
The MedTech Color Annual Pitch Competition search for the next generation of fearless founders innovating and diversifying Medtech. African-American and Hispanic founders are the fastest-growing demographics of entrepreneurs throughout history. These founders are best equipped to solve some of the world’s largest unmet needs. However, African-American and Hispanic entrepreneurs are met with the greatest barriers to accessing capital.
Am I Eligible?
We are seeking innovations in medical and/or wearable devices, diagnostics, digital health, infectious diseases, and more! Preferably, applicants will have prototypes and/or, at minimum, some proof of concept evidence and development.

Your start-up must be a US-based business.

The business must have a US-based founder, co-founder, and/or CEO who identifies as one or more of the following: African-American, African Diaspora, Hispanic and/or Latinx

The aforementioned founder must hold at least 50% of the company’s founder’s equity, OR 50% of the company's senior management team (c-suite executives) must identify as one or more of the following: African-American, African Diaspora, Hispanic, and/or Latinx.

Your start-up is in its Seed Stage, raising equity rounds in the amount of $250k to $3M. The Business must not have raised more than $3M in grants, VC, angel investments, or outside funding with no more than $1M in dilutive capital.
